Taylor Swift doesn't do anything by halves. Not only did she spend part of her record-breaking Eras tour secretly recording a new album, but less than a year after said tour ended she's gearing up to release not just another album but an accompanying concept film.
It's no secret that die hard Swifties are ready to spend their hard-earned cash on Swift's work, which now spans 12 original studio albums and four re-recorded 'Taylor's Version' albums. They watch her documentaries, queue to see her Songbook Trail exhibition at the V&A, buy tickets to her concerts around the world where they boost economies and cause earthquakes in their droves and adorn their bedrooms with ever-updating memorabilia.
These fans might have only just retired their feather bowers and cowboy hats from the last tour, the one that made Swift a billionaire, but on 3 October it's time to go again.
When is The Life of a Showgirl out?
Taylor Swift's 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, is out on 3 October.
What is Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl?
Swift is launching her album with an accompanying concept film, Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, which will feature a brand new music video, lyric videos and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage. The movie has a run time of 89 minutes.
The first track on the album is called 'The Fate of Ophelia' and it will also serve has her next single. The video for the song will feature in the film, as will 'cut by cut explanations' of what inspired the album overall.
When will The Official Release Party of a Showgirl be in cinemas?
The film will be in cinemas for one week between Friday 3 October and Sunday 5 October. Of course, just like her concerts, Swift is hoping the watch party will become a global event where fans are encouraged to dress for a 'dazzling soirée'.
'Looks like it's time to brush off that Eras Tour outfit or orange cardigan,' she wrote. Think sequins, feathers, glitter and lots of bling. 'Dacning is optional but very much encouraged.'
How to get UK tickets to Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl
Tickets are on sale in UK cinemas as of Tuesday 23 September. In the US, Deadline reported that pre-sale tickets alone resulted in $15 million (£11 million) with total projected box office earnings between $30-50 million (£22-37 million). Tickets are limited and available at releasepartyofashowgirl.com.
While the film is projected to make less money than Swift's Eras tour film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, in 2023, it's likely to become a rinse and repeat part of her album marketing strategy moving forward.
