Taylor Swift has revealed details about her new album, The Life Of A Showgirl. The star, 35, unveiled the release date, the album artwork and the tracklist of her 12th studio record as she made a rare appearance on the New Heights podcast, hosted by her American football player boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason.

‘This is my brand new album,’ she told them, bringing out a vinyl copy of her record.

She later posted the artwork on Instagram, writing, ‘And baby, that’s show business for you. New album The Life Of A Showgirl. Out October 3,’ adding that the record has been produced by herself as well as Max Martin and Shellback.

Taylor also shared photos of her channelling her showgirl era, wearing lavish rhinestone outfits, feathers and matching headpieces, as she announced three limited release deluxe editions of the album, which is available to pre-order on her website.

She worked on the cover while in Europe for her record-breaking Eras tour, explaining that the orange colour symbolises ‘what was going on in my inner life’ and represents her private moments after a performance. ‘This represents the end of my night… My show days are the same every single day, I just have a different city. And my day ends with me in a bathtub, not usually in a bedazzled dress,’ she said.

What is the tracklist on The Life Of A Showgirl?

Taylor revealed that there are 12 songs on The Life Of A Showgirl, including the title track featuring Sabrina Carpenter. Fans are guessing that Ruin The Friendship, the sixth song on the album, could be a diss track about Blake Lively, following the actress’ legal drama with director Justin Baldoni, while there’s thought to be songs about her relationship with Travis.
Travis explained that the sound will be ‘a lot more upbeat’ and a ‘180 from Tortured Poets’. Taylor said the album is about ‘the life beyond the show… everything that was going on behind the curtain'.

‘Life is more upbeat. I’m so proud of it, and it just comes from like the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in in my life, and so that effervescence has come through on this record.’
She added, ‘I wanted the album to feel the way my life felt, and this completely matches the way that my life has felt. It’s the record I’ve been wanting to make for a very long time.’

Taylor Swift started hinting at new music in September 2024, five months after the release of The Tortured Poets Department, when she wore a necklace bearing her initials with the number 12. After concluding the Eras tour in December 2024, she continued to keep fans guessing about her next studio album, which was dubbed ‘TS12’. The pop star wore red earrings adorned with 12 jewels at the 2025 Grammy Awards and in her message to fans about her legal win, she included some Easter eggs, all to do with the number 12.

Fans had speculated that Sabrina could make an appearance on Taylor’s new album, after she supported the star during her Eras tour.

Taylor made the surprise announcement on the New Heights podcast, hosted by her American football player boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason. ‘So I wanted to show you something,’ she said, holding up a vinyl album with its cover blurred. ‘This is my brand new album The Life Of A Showgirl.’ Travis exclaimed, ‘TS12!’

The Life Of A Showgirl is the Grammy-winning singer’s follow-up to The Tortured Poets Department, which sold 1.4 million copies on its first day in the US when it was released in 2024. It comes after Taylor – whose Eras tour broke records after becoming the highest grossing tour of all time and was the first to surpass $1 and $2 billion in revenue – bought the master recordings of her first six albums in May, giving her full control of all of her music after a six-year dispute with her former record label.
