Taylor Swift has broken her social media silence to pay tribute to the victims of the mass shooting in Orlando last week.

The singer has been keeping a low profile on her social media channels following her split from ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris, but took to Instagram to post a heartfelt message to the families of those who lost their lives in the horrific attack at Pulse nightclub in Orlando.

"As you bury your loved ones this week, please know that there are millions of us sending you love and our deepest sympathy in the face of this unthinkable and devastating tragedy," Swift wrote alongside a picture naming all the victims of the shooting.

The post follows news that the first of the victims was laid to rest yesterday.

Swift joins a host of other celebrities to pay tribute to the victims of the mass shooting, including Kelly Osbourne, who had the word ‘solidarity’ tattooed on her head, and Lady Gaga, who gave a moving speech at a vigil outside City Hall in LA.

Kim Kardashian has also called for gun laws to be revised in the face of the tragedy.
