If you're well-versed in a. the stories that have swirled around Taylor Swift's love life since time immemorial (or, the year 2008) and b. the casting process of the 2013 film version of Les Misérables, you might be familiar with the rumour that Taylor Swift and Eddie Redmayne were, albeit briefly, 'a thing.'
The pair were thought to have met while auditioning for the screen version of the musical, when Taylor was trying out for the role of Eponine. US Magazine even went so far as to suggest that Eddie (who played student revolutionary Marius Pontmercy in the film) might have been 'the latest person to make [Taylor] cry teardrops on her guitar.' Not that we can ever imagine Eddie making anyone cry. He's too lovely.
When asked about the so-called romance on Watch What Happens Live last night, Eddie was quick to put an end to any speculation, confirming that this particular 'Love Story' never actually happened.
'I absolutely can put the rumours to rest,' he said. 'I never went out on a date with Taylor Swift, although I met Taylor Swift. She auditioned for Les Misérables, and she was amazing in the audition.'
'So we got to sing together, which was a big moment for me, but no, we never went out,' he added.
Taylor was eventually beaten to the role of Eponine by British actress Samantha Barks (who can next be seen in period romance Bitter Harvest opposite Max Irons), and in another case of 'it's a small world', ended up in a high profile romance with Eddie's classmate Tom Hiddleston earlier this year.
