Yes, you read that correctly. While Taylor is the proud owner of a grand total of 10 Grammys, 22 Billboard Music Awards and more MTV gongs than we can count, she's now set to add a brand new trophy to her mantelpiece.
At the BMI Pop Awards on May 10th, the singer, who's just released her new video for 'New Romantics' on Apple Music, will receive the Taylor Swift award. Swifty has already bagged 7 BMI Awards to date, and will be the second ever star to receive an award in her name - the first being Michael Jackson, who took the Michael Jackson Award in 1990.
But what is Taylor being recognised for this time, we hear you ask? Best veiled reference to Harry Styles? Most cutting musical put-down of a Jonas Brother? Most meme-able video, best guest appearance by an inflatable swan, or perhaps world's most photogenic friendship group?
According to BMI's Vice President Barbara Cane, 'Taylor has transformed pop culture through her songs, artistry and indomitable spirit. She has had a profound impact not only musically, but also through her personal conviction and commitment to create a standard that values and respects music for everyone.We felt it appropriate to award Taylor with an honour that is as unique and special as she is.'
