Shakira made an abrupt exit off stage while performing in Miami prompting speculation that someone in the audience may have been ‘filming up her dress.'
Shakira was filming for a music video for new hit Soltera at LIV Miami when she made an unexpected exit after seeming to interact with an unidentified person in the crowd.
She was in the middle of dancing when she apparently stopped and looked down at someone in the audience. In footage shared on social media, Shakira can be seen tugging her skirt down while wiggling her finger, as if she was reprimanding someone in the crowd.
After carrying on dancing, Shakira waved her hand and walked off stage, where she met with security and fans in the VIP area.
After the video was shared on X, where it’s garnered 36m views, some quickly turned to the comments section to share their thoughts. It’s since been widely reported that Shakira left the stage because a fan attempted to film up her dress, although this has not been confirmed by the star or her reps.
One user wrote ‘Shakira leaves the stage after people were filming under her dress whilst she was dancing to her new single. People are GROSS,’ while another said ‘That’s truly disappointing behavior. Artists deserve respect and privacy, both on and off stage. It’s crucial to ensure a safe environment for everyone.’ Another wrote ‘Celebrities especially the female ones has every right to carrying an axe and just start swinging from now on.’
However, some users pointed out what happened could have been a misunderstanding, resulting from the stage being elevated.
Shakira is currently in the midst of making a comeback to music after a seven-year hiatus. The title of her album ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran’ translates to Women Don’t Cry Anymore. According to a press release, the album is a testament to 'Shakira’s resilience and strength, and music’s power to transform even the most trying experiences into precious moments.' This comes after Shakira split with her long-term ex Gerard Pique in 2022 after eleven years together.
Earlier this year, she told The Times about how she'd paused her career for Gerard. 'For a long time I put my career on hold, to be next to Gerard, so that he could play football,' she said. 'There was a lot of sacrifice for love.'
