If you've been thinking that 2017 has been a slow one for celebrity gossip, it looks like we have a new A-list couple to contend with: Selena Gomez has been spotted kissing singer The Weeknd (aka Abel Tesfaye) by TMZ.
Not ones to shy away from PDA, the pair were photographed holding hands and kissing as they left Giorgio Baldi, a restaurant in Santa Monica, California, earlier this month.
The pair haven't been photographed together since then, but they've now stepped their relationship up a notch by making things Instagram official. The Weeknd made the first Insta-move, following Selena on January 23rd, which was then reciprocated by his new girlfriend. As everyone who's anyone knows, Instagram official is the new Facebook official.
It's not yet clear how long Selena and The Weeknd have been dating, but this latest revelation certainly stirred the waters in the singer's friendship group. It's just two months since The Weeknd split from model Bella Hadid after dating on and off for a year and a half: Selena is friends with Bella's elder sister, Gigi, through the A-list's premier friend-broker, Taylor Swift.
Bella responded by unfollowing Selena on Instagram shortly after the news broke, though she is still following her ex-boyfriend.
Selena, meanwhile, is still following Bella. Our heads are hurting.
Bella and Selena are not thought to be part of the same immediate friendship circle, but the pair have hung out together in the past: they posed for a photo with Suki and Immy Waterhouse back in September 2015, which Immy posted on Twitter.
Rumours of a reconciliation between Bella and her ex surfaced in December, when the model was spotted looking at pictures them kissing on her smartphone on a flight to Paris. The former couple shared the stage at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, with Bella revealing to E! News beforehand that there was 'no awkwardness' between the two.
'This is his second year performing, and I think he’s going to kill it. There is no awkwardness. He is my best friend, and I am excited because I am walking during his performance,' she said.
Selena, meanwhile, famously dated Justin Bieber until 2014. Recently, the singer has taken a step back from the spotlight, cancelling her tour dates to focus on dealing with depression and anxiety, a side effect of auto-immune condition lupus.
