That’s right, the relationship rumour mill is turning. This time, Disney star turned pop icon and Instagram royalist Selena Gomez could be dating the actual Captain America himself - if you believe Twitter and TikTok.

But the Only Murderers in the Building star and Marvel leading man have even dropped some evidence themselves. So what is actually happening between Selena Gomez and Chris Evans? Are they dating, or aren't they? Should we start planning out their couple name, or should we chill out and wait for actual confirmation? Here’s what we know.

The rumours began on September the 24th when Chris Evans and Selena Gomez began following each other on Instagram. The following week, many of Selena Gomez’s non-celeb friends also began following him. But maybe they’re just Marvel fans?

Adding fuel to the rumour fire, Chris Evans was seemingly pictured leaving Selena Gomez’s music studio. But Elle unfortunately debunked this one - the photo was all the way from 2017 and he was actually leaving a Pilates class. Close enough.

The two were also pictured appearing to leave the same restaurant in the same car, but this rumour was later debunked by E! They were indeed leaving the same restaurants in fairly similar cars, but the two papped images were from different times.

But those aren’t the only pieces of evidence. The most recent speculation comes after the Captain America star posted a video of him playing Purple Rain on the piano on Instagram Stories (side note: Chris is a surprisingly great pianist!). If you look carefully and maybe pause a few times, the right side of the piano reveals a reflection of a woman with a brunette bob (we know, it’s a huge reach!). The internet’s take? It has to be Selena!

One fan took the evidence to the trial of TikTokers, zooming in on the video with the caption "Is that Selena?!" They added, "Who is the brunette filming bottom right corner Chris?"

Of course, this content set social media alight. Basically everyone is convinced the reflection is Selena’s, and they’re obviously romantically involved.

Selena and Chris haven't commented on if she's in the video, but the fans could be onto something. Whoever this reflection belongs to, their hair closely resembles Selena’s recently debuted bob. Perhaps it is her after all.

Excitement over Evans and Gomez’ potential secret romance reignited just last night, when Chris Evans posted an innocent Instagram story of his dog chasing a button around his living room, picking it up, and running off with it. The caption reads “His favourite button (I’ve been trying to record it but it’s tough to catch! I saw this one coming!”

At first, this doesn’t seem to reveal much. But turn the volume up and you’ll hear a woman’s laugh which fans are absolutely convinced is Selena’s. One TikTok user uploaded their take on the video with the caption “Am I the only one who heard Selena Gomez’s laugh at the end? Can you hear it too or am I the only one?”

33,000 likes and 600 comments later, fans are in two camps. Team “yes, they are dating” and team “we’re definitely reaching”.

We won’t truly know what’s going on with the pair until they tell us, or just start jetting off on holiday and doing magazine covers without clarifying (Brangelina-style) but that hasn’t stopped fans from running wild. Both the stars’ Instagram comments are filled to the brim with demands for them to either get together or admit they’re already together. And a quick scroll through the #selenagomezchrisevans tag on TikTok shows many users are already making (very romantic) content about the couple -.

They’d for-sure make a cute couple. Selena and Chris have not worked with each other yet. However, Selena had once confessed that she has a crush on the Marvel Cinematic Universe star. In fact, back in 2015 while being interviewed on the Watch What Happens Live show, Selena Gomez answered a fan’s question about who her biggest Hollywood crush is with “I kinda have a crush on Chris Evans. He’s very cute”. When asked if she’s ever said that in public before, she says no but adds “maybe we’re meant to be!”

“He's either going to hate me or love me,” she added, speaking of the confession, but host Andy Cohen assured Selena, “I think he's going to love you.”

Perhaps they’re really just friends, and we’re getting a bit too excited. But it wouldn’t be the first time social media uncovered a hidden celebrity relationship, would it?
