Proving once and for all that royalty are just like you and me, it’s become apparent the Queen is a big fan of cake.

Former Royal Chef Darren McGrady told The Sun that the Queen is rather partial to homemade chocolate biscuit cake. The monarch reportedly orders it daily until the cake is finished, and even takes it with her on trips away.

‘The chocolate biscuit cake is the only cake that goes back again and again and again every day until it’s all gone. She’ll take a small slice every day until eventually there is only one tiny piece, but you have to send that up, she wants to finish the whole of that cake,’ McGrady explained.

However, when the Queen isn’t eating cake she sticks to a pretty healthy diet. In fact, McGrady revealed that unless she is at a state dinner she has a ‘no starch rule’. Yep, that means no bread, pasta or potatoes.

Instead, she prefers to eat grilled fish or chicken with steamed vegetables or salad. Very healthy indeed. The Queen is also not a fan of garlic or onion so chefs are instructed to keep these ingredients out of her dishes. And when she is not finishing her meal with a slice of chocolate biscuit cake she likes to have fresh fruit, specifically homegrown peaches.
