Could you be the perfect candidate to manage the Queen’s personal Twitter account?

If you have a university-level education, good photography and video skills and an ‘eye to the future’, and would describe yourself as ‘innovative with creative flair,’ then the answer might be yes.

Buckingham Palace is currently advertising for a digital communications officer to join their ‘fast-paced’ and ‘dynamic’ social media team on maternity cover, offering a salary of £30,000 to manage the Queen’s Twitter account and share news of the Royal Family to their millions of followers around the world.

The role would also involve posting on the monarch’s Facebook, Instagram and YouTube channels, documenting the Queen’s official visits and charity work (rather than posting selfies) and promises a ‘comprehensive benefits package’ along with 33 days of paid holiday a year.

‘It’s knowing your content will be viewed by millions. It’s finding new ways to maintain The Queen’s presence in the public eye and on the world stage. This is what makes working for the Royal Household exceptional,’ the job description reveals, according to The Sun.

‘The reaction to our work is always high-profile, and so reputation and impact will be at the forefront of all you do. And having your work shared around the world will be the biggest reward.’

The Queen’s first foray into social media came in 2014, when she posted a tweet to followers of the @RoyalFamily account at the opening of the Information Age exhibition at the Science Museum, writing ‘It is a pleasure to open the Information Age exhibition today at the @ScienceMuseum and I hope people will enjoy visiting. Elizabeth R.’

She returned to Twitter last year in order to extend her thanks to the Twitter users who wished her well on her 90th birthday, writing ‘I am most grateful for the many digital messages of goodwill I have received and would like to thank you all for your kindness.’
