We are all very aware of the ‘Kate effect’. From her Issa engagement dress to her L.K.Bennett wedges, the Duchess of Cambridge’s sartorial choices notoriously cause items to sell out, often almost instantly.
And now we have the ‘Charlotte effect’. Yep, she may have only just had her second birthday but the youngest royal already has some serious shopping influence.
The London based branded business valuation and strategy consultancy Brand Finance Group estimates that Princess Charlotte is already worth £3 billion. Not too bad for someone who hasn’t even started primary school…
In fact, they estimated that Princess Charlotte is worth more than her older brother and heir to the throne, Prince George. The 4 year old's net worth is supposedly £2.4 billion. However, neither of the two children have eclipsed their mother’s worth. Kate Middleton is estimated to be worth £4.7 billion.
Wondering how Princess Charlotte is worth such a whopping great fortune? Well, it all comes down to her excellent taste in fashion. As pictures of the young royal are beamed around the world, people are quick to emulate her style. For example, the pastel yellow patterned cardigan from John Lewis that Charlotte wore in her official birthday photo sold out in 24 hours.
‘This is actually as simple as the relative size of the men's and women's fashion markets, by which I mean that Charlotte's endorsement effect will likely be felt across a much broader range of products and brands or types of clothing than will George's, allowing a greater scope for the monetization of her 'brand' and hence a higher value,’ Brand Finance's marketing and communications director Robert Haigh told Marie Claire.
