After marrying Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Princess Beatrice has become the first ever Princess of the Queen's family to become a stepmother.

Edoardo - known as Edo to his friends - shares a two-year-old son Christopher 'Wolfie' Woolf with his former fiancée of three-and-a-half years Dara Huang, meaning that following their secret wedding ceremony yesterday, Beatrice is now his stepmother.

The only other Royal to become a stepparent is Prince Charles, who became stepfather to Camilla Parker Bowles' son Tom and daughter Laura when they married in 2005.

The Princess' parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson had an unconventional relationship themselves after tying the knot in 1986.

The couple started having marital problems when Prince Andrew was called to work away during his time in the Navy, leaving Sarah alone for the duration of her first pregnancy with Beatrice, who was born in 1988.

Princess Eugenie was then born shortly after in 1990, but just two years later the couple announced their separation.

It wasn't long after that the Royal family were dealt a blow when intimate photos of Sarah and Texan millionaire John Bryan were published in the tabloids, showing him sucking and kissing the Duchess' toes. The Palace were left red-faced and thus the couple's divorce was accelerated.

Sarah later said, 'I didn’t want to divorce, but I had to because of the circumstances. Andrew and I decided to make the divorce official so I could go off and get a job.'

Following the split, Sarah was able to keep her Duchess of York title but was stripped of HRH due to the fact she was no longer married to a Royal. If she ever remarries, Sarah will also lose her Duchess title.

Beatrice tied the knot at a small ceremony that took place yesterday at All Saints chapel in Windsor, after being forced to postpone her wedding day originally set for May due to Coronavirus.

There were less than 20 guests in attendance including Queen Elizabeth II and her husband the Duke of Edinburgh, who were luckily able to see their granddaughter marry.

Congratulations are in order for Beatrice, who we have no doubt will make a fantastic stepmother. After such an unconventional Royal family history, we can think of no one better to take on the role.
