Radio 1 listeners were in for quite a shock yesterday when Prince William And Kate Middleton made a surprise appearance on DJ Scott Mills’ afternoon show.

As part of the promotional tour for their mental health campaign, Heads Together, everyone’s favourite’s royal couple gave one of their most honest interviews yet, and they even read out the charts live on air.

In the interview, William revealed he was a secret Radio 1 fan and had even anonymously text the show for a shout out.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge spoke firstly about their love for music and admitted they aren’t able to attend many live gigs.

‘No, unfortunately that is a bit tricky. I've talked about going to Glastonbury before because I do love my music and Catherine as well,’ William said.

‘You know I've got in enough trouble with my dancing recently, so it's best to keep away from that,’ the future King added in reference to the photos of him on a ski trip to Verbier in March.

They also spoke of their mutual appreciation for boxsets.

Homeland, we're big fans of that, and Game Of Thrones’ William said. You won’t catch them watching Gogglebox or EastEnders though…

And when asked if they order takeaway, Kate said: ‘Absolutely, and curry - definitely.’

‘I'm not so good with spicy food. It doesn't usually get ordered to the palace to be honest, normally someone goes and picks it up,’ William added.

But recently it’s been more about the children’s TV shows for the royal couple.

‘Some of them are really good but you have to pretend you're really interested because George gets very upset if you're not showing due diligence to the characters,’ William explained.

According to William , little George has grown out of Peppa Pig but is a fan of Fireman Sam.

The subject of the Queen’s 91st birthday was also raised, and William revealed it would probably be handmade gifts this year.

‘It's quite hard to know what to give the Queen for her 91st birthday. We've tried making things, now that we've got grandchildren around we've tried that and it always goes down really well. Doesn't matter what it looks like, it goes down really well.’
