From Kensington Palace to a galaxy far, far away: it seems that Prince Harry and Prince William could be set to make their big screen debut in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Rumours of the royal cameo first arouse last year, when the princes visited Pinewood Studios during the filming of the then-untitled Episode VIII. The royals posed for photos with actors John Boyega (who joined the Star Wars universe as ex-stormtrooper Finn for 2015's The Force Awakens) and Daisy Ridley (who plays Rey), along with Chewbacca and BB8 (because really, who wouldn't?) They also took the opportunity to challenge each other to a lightsabre battle (because, again, who wouldn't?) but according to some reports - and new hints dropped by John Boyega - the princes found another way to fill their time: by filming a brief (and, presumably, heavily costumed) appearance. Back in 2016, a source told the Daily Mail that during the visit (spoiler alert) 'the princes dressed up in full stormtrooper gear and filmed a scene in which Rey and Finn infiltrate a secret base.'

'The rebel characters are in a lift with Benicio del Toro’s character when a group of stormtroopers enter—two of whom are William and Harry. The line given was that they were going to have lunch and a private tour of the rest of the set.'

'What really happened is that the director came over and told them it was time to ‘get suited,’ and off they went to the wardrobe department.'

The princes aren't the first famous faces to have a (concealed) cameo in the rebooted franchise. Tom Hardy is thought to have filmed scenes for The Last Jedi, while James Bond himself (aka Daniel Craig) memorably appeared as a stormtrooper in an interrogation scene in The Force Awakens. His identification code? JB 007...
