Britney Spears could apparently be giving her first interview since freedom to... Piers Morgan{ =nofollow}. Erm, what?

Yep.

According to The Mirror, Britney is likely to do her first televised interview following her conservatorship ordeal with UK broadcasters in spring - and Piers is top of the list. Piers might be known for grilling people on Life Stories, where he's interviewed everyone from Kim Cattrall to former PM Gordon Brown, but as he left ITV in October, the Britney interview would air on his new weeknight show for upcoming channel talkTV. The interview could also be broadcast in the US and Australia.

Britney has previously said that she would like to 'set things square on Oprah', but the paper notes that there are no reports in the US that Britney will be sitting down with Oprah, Harry and Meghan style.

This latest update follows the news that a Britney-penned memoir could soon be hitting the shelves. According toPage Six, the popstar has signed an eyewatering deal with publisher Simon & Schuster for £11m, in one of the biggest book deals of all time. (It's not as much as the Obamas though, who secured a $65m deal in 2017 to write several books for Penguin Random House.)

It's of course understandable why there has been such huge interest for Britney to tell her story, either with a tell-all interview - or in her own words. In November last year, the singer was finally free from the conservatorship which had ruled her life for the past 14 years. Her freedom meant - after her father was granted control of her affairs in 2008 - she could finally make basic decisions regarding her finances, career and personal life again.

Since, the 40-year-old has been enjoying her freedom, and wrote on the weekend after she was freed that she was on 'on cloud 9 the whole time'. In September 2021, she also got engaged to her partner, dancer Sam Asghari.

However, it hasn't all been plain sailing as Britney has had to contend with her sister, Jamie Lynn, releasing her autobiography, Things I Should Have Said, where she described her behaviour as 'paranoid' and 'spiralling'. Last month, Britney's attorney, Mathew Rosengart, sent a cease and desist letter to Jamie Lynn, after she repeatedly spoke about Britney in promotional interviews for the book.
