This is not a drill. For years there have been rumours swirling about a One Direction reunion, but now, finally, Liam Payne has given fans a real shred of hope.
In a recent interview with the Mirror, Liam revealed that talks of a One Direction reunion have gently begun – and that it might come sooner than we all think.
The award-winning group went on hiatus in 2016, and fans were devastated after they skipped any 10-year anniversary reunion in 2020.
Liam revealed that after talking to Louis Tomlinson about it, they agreed the reunion should happen ‘sooner rather than later.’
After the band separated all the members have since been on their own journey as artists with immense success. Most recently, Harry Styles’ hit song Watermelon Sugar won both a Brit and a Grammy Award.
In May, Niall Horan said that talks for a reunion had paused. On the Johnathan Ross show he revealed that he wouldn't want to do it 'unless everybody was completely in' and that all 'having the same opinion about it would be hard'.
When asked if the group would reunite, Niall replied, 'I don't know… no one really talks about it. 'There's a couple of little babies from them lads. Everyone's having their own success on their own. I'm enjoying what I'm doing.'
He added, 'Of course, if everyone wanted to do it, I'd be down for it… you kind of need to all get in the same room and have the chat, but I don't know when that would be…
So, although there is no exact date set yet, Payne and Tomlinson’s conversation is definitely a great sign of what is to come.
