First came the all-female Ghostbusters re-boot. Now, filming has kicked off for the female-led spin-off for Ocean’s Eleven, the heist movie starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt that was itself a remake of a 1960 Rat Pack classic.

Confused? You needn’t be – all you need to know is that Warner Brothers have assembled a stellar cast of A-list women to head up Ocean’s Eight, which began shooting in October last year.

Now, we've been granted our first look at Debbie Ocean's gang of aspiring criminals, as Warner Bros. have released a cast photo showing the characters on a New York subway train, wearing some pretty remarkable statement coats.

'In summer 2018, the tide will turn as Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) attempts to pull off the heist of the century at New York's star-studded annual Met Gala. Her first stop is to assemble the perfect crew: Lou (Cate Blanchett); Nine Ball (Rihanna); Amita (Mindy Kaling); Constance (Awkwafina); Rose (Helena Bonham Carter); Daphne Kluger (Anne Hathaway) and Tammy (Sarah Paulson),' a plot teaser from the studio reveals.

The film will follow an all-female group of criminals, lead by Sandra Bullock's Debbie Ocean, who attempt a jewellery heist during the Met Gala.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that the film's producers had managed to recruit some of the biggest names in the fashion world to appear in scenes taking place at the annual Ball, including Vogue editor Anna Wintour

Page Six has reported that the film 'meticulously recreates the Met Gala [...] for a crucial scene, down to the place cards, VIPs and couture gowns.'

'Wintour will have a role that is yet to be filmed,' according to the report, with Vanity Fair's Derek Blasburg, Vogue's Lauren Santo Domingo and designers Alexander Wang and Zac Posen also making an appearance.

Kendall Jenner and half-sister Kim Kardashian, along with former boybander turned Versace muse Zayn Malik, will also have cameos.

In November, it emerged that one of the original Ocean's Eleven cast has already signed up to return to the franchise.

Speaking at the premiere of Manchester by the Sea, none other than Matt Damon revealed that he will be reprising his role as petty criminal Linus Cardwell in the latest installment.

'I'm doing a little bit in the movie,' he revealed to Entertainment Tonight. 'I haven't read it yet, but the cast is phenomenal and I'm excited to see what those women do with it. It's going to be fun.'

Cementing his reputation as one of the nicest guys in Hollywood, Matt has so far been full of praise for the new film, describing the project as 'awesome' and the cast as 'kick ass.'

Ocean's Eight will arrive in cinemas on June 8th 2018. In the mean time, here's your need-to-know on the 'eight' in question...

Best. Line-Up. Ever.

We started counting the number of Oscar nominations that this starry ensemble can boast between them, and reached the conclusion that it is definitely a lot.
