More than two months after her husband was inaugurated as President of the United States, Melania Trump's official portrait as First Lady has been released by the White House - and naturally, social media is having a field day.
'I am honoured to serve in the role of First Lady, and look forward to working on behalf of the American people over the coming years,' Melania said in a statement accompanying the image, which was shot by Belgian photographer Benoit Mahaux. It shows FLOTUS wearing a black blazer, a sequinned scarf and her 25-carat diamond ring, a gift from her husband Donald on their tenth wedding anniversary (estimated to have cost around $3 million). For some, it's this rock that is the real focus of the portrait...
What's really caught the collective consciousness, though, is the level of airbrushing that has apparently been deployed for the photo. Never has a soft focus lens been so... soft...
Others couldn't help but note an 80s music video aesthetic...
Though now that Celine Dion is a bona fide style icon, we can't really fault Melania for channelling the power ballad queen's look...
Could a police procedural drama be the First Lady's next move?
There was also some concern about the choice of location...
While others used the portrait as an opportunity to throw shade at the fact that, though Melania may now have a White House portrait, she is still yet to move into the White House.
