If new reports are to be believed, this could be the biggest hint yet that we can soon expect Kensington Palace to officially announce an engagement between Prince Harry and his actress girlfriend, Meghan Markle: the 36-year-old has apparently quit her role on Suits, the legal drama that made her famous.

Meghan has starred as paralegal Rachel Zane in the US show since 2011 and, despite recent rumours that she was set to abandon her acting work in order to spend more time with her boyfriend, recently celebrated the show’s 100 episode milestone with her cast mates. With the eighth season on the horizon, though, the actress has reportedly told the show’s bosses she won’t be returning – meaning that she could potentially wrap up filming as early as next month.

‘Meghan knows she can’t really act at the same time as being a princess and is happy to make this career sacrifice,’ a source told the Daily StarDaily Star. ‘She really enjoys her charity work with UNICEF and will broaden out her charity commitments when she becomes a full-time royal.’

Meghan’s Suits filming commitments mean that she spends the majority of the year in Toronto, while Harry’s permanent residence is Nottingham Cottage in Kensington Palace.

A further source told the SunSun that the distance – and the fact that, as a member of the royal family with numerous charitable commitments, Harry can’t exactly abandon the UK and up sticks to Canada – meant that Meghan would always have had to leave the show, sooner or later.

‘Meghan loved playing Rachel and feels she owes so much to Suits,’ the source revealed. ‘But Harry can’t move to Toronto, so she’ll have to move eventually if they want to be together.’

Speculation is rife that the couple are already engaged, with those in the know suggesting that Kensington Palace might choose November to officially announce the happy news to public. Another insider told the star that ‘this would be the month for two reasons.’

‘Firstly because it will be a month before Christmas, so they are hoping the hype would have calmed down,’ they explained.

‘But secondly, Harry’s brother William announced his engagement to Kate in the same month in 2010.’
