Meghan Markle’s fractured relationship with her father Thomas Markle, who was absent from her wedding to Prince Harry after suffering a heart attack, has flared up once more as he has now spoken out about his ‘grief’ at not being allowed to meet his grandson Archie Harrison Mountbattan. He also weighed in on the recent ‘private jet debate’, labelling his daughter and her husband ‘hypocrites’.

In an explosive interview with theMail On Sunday, Thomas didn’t hold back (again) as he spoke from his home in Mexico. Addressing the ongoing situation between himself and Meghan, he said: "There was never any problem between Meghan and me until recently. I've stayed quiet because Meghan was pregnant with Archie but I'm speaking out now because they and their PR people are continuing to ghost me out of her life.Of course I'm disappointed not to see Archie.I had hoped becoming a mother would mellow Meghan and she would reach out.’

He added: 'I would like them to send me a picture of Archie so I can frame it and put it on my wall beside the one of Meghan. Isn't that what any grandfather would want? I'd love to know if he's got the famous Markle nose.'

And he didn’t stop there, Thomas also had his say about Meghan and Harry’s recent controversy over their use of private jets. This summer, Harry and Meghan took a holiday to Nice, courtesy of Sir Elton John, who loaned the couple his private jet and £15m villa. The trip came days after the eco-warrior couple returned from a holiday in Ibiza, where they also flew by private jet. Harry and Meghan, both vocal environmentalists, were branded hypocrites by many, who said the private flights and their associated carbon emissions were at odds with the couple’s pledge to help save the planet.

'I feel sorry for them in a way because they brought this on themselves. You can't say one thing and do another,' said Thomas.

'Everyone raves about how gracious and wonderful they are, but they are not wonderful to their own family. That's hypocritical. You can't portray yourself as being charitable and bringing people together and then ghost your own father and your entire family. Their treatment of me has left a lot to be desired. I've still never met my son-in-law. Why couldn't Prince Harry have got on a plane and flown to see me to ask for her hand?'

Thomas' comments come after an intense few months for Meghan. From receiving criticism for guest-editing September's issue of British Vogue to the unwarranted amount of backlash for flying private to protect her son's privacy - isn't it about time Meghan had a break?
