There have long been rumours that Meghan Markle was planning to work with Disney following her exit from the royal family - but it’s now been confirmed that Meghan is (kind of) going to switch to being a Disney princess, as she will provide the voiceover for a documentary about elephants.
The Twitter account for Disney Nature confirmed Meghan’s involvement, while promoting the release of Elephant and a second movie, Dolphin Reef, narrated by Natalie Portman. It had previously been reported that she wouldn't be directly paid for the project, with the money instead going to a wildlife charity of Meghan's choosing.
Sharing footage from both movies, the account tweeted: ‘Two new movies, two unforgettable journeys. Start streaming Disneynature’s Elephant, narrated by Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, and Disneynature’s Dolphin Reef, narrated by Natalie Portman, on April 3, only on #DisneyPlus.’ (Another two reasons to download the new streaming service{
The documentary will follow one African elephant named Shani and her son Jomo as they head off across the Kalahari Desert with their herd.
The project's probably been a long time in the making, because if you remember, at The Lion King premiere last year, Harry told Disney CEO Bob Iger that Meghan was 'really interested' in doing voiceovers.
Currently, the pair are in Canada with their son Archie. Yesterday, it was revealed that Prince Charles had tested positive for coronavirus, with a spokesperson saying that he 'remains in good health'. The spokesperson added that he is now self-isolating in Scotland with Camilla, who does not have the virus.
