It has been reported that Meghan Markle, Prince Harry and baby Archie might not spend Christmas with the Queen at Sandringham. According to Hello! Magazine, the family might stay in America for the season, as part of their six-week break from royal duties. The magazine reports that, after a break in the US, they could spend Christmas with Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland. It will be their first Christmas as a family-of-three following the birth of Archie Mounbatten-Windsor in May .Kate and William have previously missed Christmas with the Queen, to spend it with the Middletons instead.
As we wrote about yesterday{
While Kate stood with Queen Elizabeth and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Meghan took to a balcony with Sophie, Countess of Wessex, and Princess Anne's husband.
Some unfortunately might have assumed it’s proof of a reported rift between the families, but the reason they were seperated is actually very straightforward. As Hello! reports, at events like this, royals stand according to their order of precedence. (And unlike events at Buckingham Palace, the balconies at the Foreign Office are too small for them all to stand together.)
So, The Queen was accompanied by Prince Charles' wife Camilla and Kate, who has taken Philip’s place since he has given up royal duties. And Meghan - who last year stood next to Elke Büdenbender, the wife of Germany's President Frank-Walter Steinmeier - was joined by the Countess of Wessex and Sir Timothy Laurence on another balcony.
