Love Island star Maura Higgins has made her first red carpet appearance since appearing to share a kiss with her I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! co-star Danny Jones at the BRIT Awards back in March 2025.

Although the Irish influencer attended the TV BAFTAS on Sunday 11 May, Danny was noticeably absent. This came after a source told the Sun that the McFly star ‘won’t be attending though as he is focusing on his family life and work. He wouldn’t do anything to make wife Georgia doubt him and doesn’t want to set a foot a wrong.’

Maura Higgins first rose the fame on Love Island 2019, and has since gone on to appear in various TV projects including I’m a Celeb back in 2024. The Irish star— who won the public over with her quick wit and no-nonsense attitude, particularly when faced with men in Love Island who weren’t exactly princes— received an onslaught of online scrutiny earlier this year when she and Danny Jones were pictured kissing. Danny has a wife of ten years, Georgia Horsley, and a seven-year-old son. Maura was single at the time, but that didn’t stop fans from commenting a slew of hurtful messages below any Instagram she posted in the following months.

Danny— who won I’m a Celeb 2024— publicly apologised to his wife, Georgia, after the pictures of him and Maura surfaced. In March of this year, the singer wrote, ‘Hello everyone, sorry it's taken me a while to post this but I've taken some time out to be with those closest to me. I want to deeply apologise to my wife and family for putting them in this situation. I love them so much and we'll continue to deal with this privately. I love you guys, thank you for your patience, understanding, and support. See you all soon, Danny.’

Since then, he’s been spotted on a sombre looking coffee walk with his wife, and at very little else.

While Danny hardly got off scot-free, it’s Maura whose social media was littered with abuse. One follower wrote, ‘While it does take 2… girls should have girls backs’ and there were plenty along the lines of, ‘It’s the children I feel sorry for.’ However, some did see sense, including one Insta user who commented, ‘Go on the dudes account not hers,’ with another chiming in, ‘Maura is single she owes nobody anything.’

In a world where men are forgiven for almost any transgression, let’s hope Maura can go back to attending parties and galas without any hate messages.
