If you’re hungover after last night’s Halloween festivities, then you deserve to treat yourself for lunch - by buying yourself a packet of crisps and a Christmas sandwich. It’s what Mariah Carey{ =nofollow}would do, as she has officially announced that today, November 1, is the start of the festive season.

In a hilarious clip shared to Twitter, the singer is seen transforming from her Halloween costume into a Christmas onesie as the clock strikes midnight. Of course, Santa also picks up the phone – and her iconic hit All I Want For Christmas Is You is played.

It’s unsurprising Mariah is a Christmas fan, as according to The Independent she earns $500,000 in royalties every year from the hit track. She’s also just re-released the album Merry Christmas, with a deluxe edition release – and she is going on a Christmas tour, playing Nottingham on 9 December, Leeds on 10 December and the O2 in London on 11 December.

Oh, and she’s being paid £9 million to front Walkers Christmas crisps campaign – so no wonder she’s counting down the days.

In one of the most bizarre collaborations of all time, the star will become the new face of the adverts this season. And she's excited about it. She said, ‘Everyone knows how festive I am, and it's been fun getting into the holiday spirit this year with Walkers crisps - they're irresistible! I can’t say too much about the campaign yet, but there may be some fun twists at the end.’

Wayne Newton, head of marketing at Walkers, added, ‘Our seasonal range of flavours – from Pigs in Blankets to Brussels Sprouts – has just been reintroduced to shelves, and we know the nation is already feeling festive as a result. But with Mariah on board too, our Christmas spirit has just stepped up a gear. We can finally announce that the Queen of Christmas herself will be the star of our biggest ever Walkers Christmas advert.'
