How do we love Margot Robbie? Let us count the ways. She’s friends with Leonardo DiCaprio, she tattooed Cara Delevingne’s toes with a gun she found on eBay, and she’s ever so casual about the fact that she has Prince Harry’s phone number.
At the premiere of her latest blockbuster Suicide Squad, the Australian actress revealed that she exchanges texts every once in a while with the Prince – but she’s not one to brag about it.
‘He’s friends with Cara [Delevingne,]’ she explained to E! News. ‘They’ve known each other for years, and we met through friends.’
‘It’s really odd,’ she admitted. ‘I didn’t tell my family. When I go to see my family my mum’s telling me about Murphy, our dog, and mundane things like that.’
But is our favourite royal a good text correspondent, or is he the sort to leave you hanging with a blue ‘message read’ tick on Whatsapp?
‘He’s pretty quick on text actually,’ Margot told Extra TV. ‘Unlike me – I write back four days later, weeks later sometimes.’ That’s right, M. Play it cool.
Though the pair are now good pals, their friendship didn’t exactly have the most auspicious of beginnings. When she met the royal at a housewarming party hosted by model Suki Waterhouse last year, Margot made a double faux pas; first failing to recognise the Prince, then genuinely believing that he was actually Ed Sheeran.
Speaking on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon in March, she revealed ‘When I saw him in those glasses [at the party], I was like, “Oh my God, I didn’t know Ed Sheeran was at the party!” And he got really offended. He wasn’t wearing a crown though! Like, I don’t know it’s a prince!’
It’s the sort of mistaken identity case that noughties teen films are made of. In fact, we’d probably, no, definitely, watch Margot and Harry play out that very scenario on the big screen. Leo, if you’re open to it, we could probably find you a cameo role?
