Fresh from promoting her latest films Legend Of Tarzan and Suicide Squad - even managing to squeeze in a spot of surfing amidst premieres - Margot Robbie, 26, is now widely tipped to become the latest Bond Girl in the 25th film of the series.
This latest update has come as a real shock to 007 fans, who, up until now, had assumed Gone Girl star Emily Ratajowski and British beauties Emma Watson and Emily Blunt were frontrunners for the coveted role.
In a recent twist of events, British bookmaker Paddy Power has now placed Margot as the 12/1 favourite, with Emily Blunt hot on her tail at 16/1, closely followed by Ratajowski at 22/1 and Watson at 40/1.
Margot would certainly have big shoes to fill, following in the footsteps of previous stars Halle Berry, Rosamund Pike and the original Bond Girl Ursula Andres, taking up the role alongside an as yet undecided 007.
It remains to be seen whether Daniel Craig will return to his role in the franchise so, inevitably, some very high profile contenders have been thrown into the mix; namely James Norton and Taylor Swift’s latest beau Tom Hiddleston – not to mention Leicester City Football Club’s Jamie Vardy (whom Paddy Power has placed as a 500/1 favourite...never say never – Ladbrokes placed Leicester City winning the Premier League at 5000/1 at the beginning of this season!).
Legendary Hollywood director Steven Spielberg has expressed his support for the Star Trek Beyond star, Idris Elba, to be the next Bond, though Elba called this the ‘wildest rumour in the world’ whilst speaking to Good Morning America.
So it seems that the film and its cast is still shrouded in mystery. Who will take the role of the infamous British spy and will Margot play his glamorous sidekick? We may have to wait a while longer to find out since the film is not for release until... 2018. [WEEPS!]
