Yesterday, former First daughters Barbara Bush and Jenna Bush-Hager wrote a touching open letter to Malia and Sasha Obama ahead of their departure from the White House.

The inspiring note penned by the twins opened with a sweet anecdote detailing how the sisters first showed Barack Obama’s daughters around their former home before he was elected President of the United States eight years ago.

The twins wrote: ‘To show you the Lincoln Bedroom, and the bedrooms that were once ours, to introduce you to all the people – the florists, the grounds-keepers and the butlers – who dedicate themselves to making this historic house a home. The four of us wandered the majestic halls of the house you had no choice but to move in to.’

They continued: ‘When you slid down the banister of the solarium, just as we had done as eight-year-olds and again as 20-year-olds chasing our youth, your joy and laughter were contagious.’

And now never-seen-before images have been released by the Bush sisters to illustrate the story behind their meeting.

The pictures, shared with the Today show, depict Malia and Sasha aged ten and seven years old exploring their future home, the White House.

The touching images show the young girls joyously sliding down the banisters (as described by the Bush sisters) and kicking back in the giant cushioned seats of the cinema room.

We wonder if their new digs will have similar views...
