If you devoured the entirety of Emily In Paris season two over the Christmas break, you might have recognised Emily's new love interest, sarcastic banker Alfie, otherwise known as Lucien Laviscount{ =nofollow}. About ten years ago, it seemed like the actor was everywhere, with roles in Coronation Street, Skins and Waterloo Road. (He also appeared on Celebrity Big Brother, alongside Jedward, too.) But fast forward a decade, now 29, Lucien is enjoying his biggest break yet, with his central role in Emily In Paris.

But, did you know, Lucien owes his career to a very unexpected famous person? Speaking to Grazia{ =nofollow}, the actor revealed that he only got into acting at such a young age, because David Beckham helped him get into an acting school when he was 10-years-old.

'I got a modelling campaign with Marks and Spencers, because out the blue I got stopped in the street with my mum shopping in town,' Lucien explained. 'And then the M&S job ended up being with David Beckham. I was a naughty little boy on set, and David comes over and he says "Lucien, you're a funny lad - you should get into acting". I really had no idea what acting was at that point. And he gets an assistant to call an acting school in Manchester, and they got in touch with my mum. That's how I started, which is kind of wild.'

Wild, indeed! And it makes the scene where Alfie refers to Camille and Emily as 'a pack of WAGs' when they're watching Gabriel and Alfie play football - explaining to Emily that meant 'wives and girlfriends of professional athletes, likeVictoria Beckham' - funnier too.

The show's boss Darren Star (also the creator of Sex And The City) recently teased what will happen in season three, as Emily makes the huge decision of staying in Paris for a new role with Sylvie, or heading back to Chicago to chase her promotion at Savior. 'She has reasons to pick a number of doors at the end of season 2, and our challenge is deciding which of those doors she's going to choose and why. That's what season 3 is going to be about,' he said.

Darren also told TVLine that her personal life is still going to be 'really intertwined' with her career decisions - and that even though Emily has 'strong feelings' for Gabriel, Darren added that 'I wouldn't write Alfie off, and I don't think Emily should, either.' So maybe we'll see more of Lucien in the next series... Thanks to David Beckham, of course.
