Here’s How Love Island’s Wes Nelson Slid Into Arabella Chi’s DMs

In 2019, sliding into the DMs is just part of the dating landscape. And, admittedly, some people are better than sending the first message than others. Case in point being Wes Nelson (from 2017's Love Island, who went out with Megan Barton Hanson{ =nofollow}, if you needed reminding).

Wes is currently going out with Arabella Chi, who was on this year's series. But the way he slid into her DMs wasn't the smoothest. Even though he had help, from fellow islander Josh Denzel.

On how he got together with Arabella, the star told The Truth Flirtspodcast from dating app Badoo, 'I was with Josh [from Love Island] and we were just flinging out DMs for fun. There’s a GIF where Will Smith just slides into the kitchen and so we were like "how many people do you think we’ll get a reply from this?" I did want to get Arabella to reply, that was the focus.'

Unsurprisingly, the DM didn't win Arabella's heart and she left him on read. Wes revealed that when she met him she said, 'I did fancy you - but the way you slid in was absolutely terrible.'

Wes is currently starring on Celebrity X Factor{ =nofollow}, performing alongside fellow islanders Samira Mighty, Zara McDermott and Eyal Booker in a supergroup. Though he told Heat magazine that he wanted to be 'known for something other than dating' on the talent contest. He said, 'It's a touchy subject. I'm not saying 'The Islanders'. I'll look like a f*****g idiot.' The reality star added, 'I'm not a diva! I still don't consider myself a celebrity, I hate saying that word. We just want to be known for something other than dating.'
