Love Island’s Amy Hart has revealed producers ensured she ate, after her split fromCurtis Pritchard caused her to lose weight. The reality star said that producers ‘stood over’ her while she was eating, telling her that she wouldn’t be able to take part in the challenges if she didn’t eat.
The former air hostess told The Sun, ‘I feel a million times better now I’ve left, but I defy anyone not to fall apart and be completely heartbroken. I was very confused. I couldn’t eat, I lost six pounds.’
Amy, who quit the show on Monday, added, ‘I felt so numb. I didn’t feel hungry. When I wouldn’t eat, they would stand over me and make me eat a bowl of food or I couldn’t do the challenges.’
The 26-year-old praised ITV’s duty of care during the show – which has been ramped up this year following the deaths of former Islanders Sophie Gradon and Mike Thalassitis - saying that she made regular trips to the show’s psychiatrist. She also told the newspaper that she will continue to use the show counsellors in the aftermath of her heartbreak.
‘I used to suffer from anxiety travelling around the world as an 18-year-old,’ she said. ‘I used to be a bit scared of therapy and since going in the villa I love it. They gave me tools to deal with it. They were on call for 24 hours.'
