Move over, Kate Middleton, the fashion world officially has a new favourite royal muse: Lady Amelia Windsor. In what we can only describe as a Dolce double whammy, the 21-year-old was selected to walk in Dolce & Gabbana's 'secret' S/S'18 show at Milan's Bar Martini (her third runway outing for the Italian label) before sitting front row at the brand's on-schedule runway outing the next day. With her sartorial star set to rise and rise, here's your need-to-know on Prince George's well-dressed cousin...
Lady Amelia is the 36th in line to the throne
Born on 24th August 1995 to George Windsor, the Earl of St Andrews, and Sylvana Tomaselli (a Cambridge historian, no less), Amelia is the granddaughter of the Duke of Kent, the Queen’s first cousin. Got it?
Tatler crowned her ‘the most beautiful member of the Royal Family’
That's quite the accolade coming from the glossy bible of high society, who placed Amelia upon their cover last year. She's since signed with Storm Models, the agency which famously discovered Kate Moss.
She made her catwalk debut for Dolce & Gabbana
For the Italian brand’s A/W’17 show back in February, Lady Amelia joined a cast that featured non-models, social media stars and a handful of the second-generation Primrose Hill set (including Rafferty Law and Anais Gallagher), as well as another British aristo: Princess Diana's niece, Lady Kitty Spencer. The 21-year-old headed down the runway in a black lace co-ord with floral embellishment, appropriately accessorised with a tiara.
She's clearly made an impression on the design duo, who cast her in their A/W'17 campaign...
In another tongue-in-cheek nod to her royal status, the colourful #DGPALERMO campaign sees Amelia poses wearing another ornate crown, as well as a handbag emblazoned with the word 'QUEEN.'
... And in their latest Alta Moda extravaganza
This time, she swapped her regal headgear for an equally show-stopping floral crown, and took to the catwalk clutching a sack of vegetables. 'When doing the groceries one must always wear Alta Moda' was her tongue-in-cheek Instagram caption. Next came a runway outing in the brand's 'secret' S/S'18 show.
As well as Dolce, she's modelled for one of Kate Middleton's favourite brands
Earlier this year, Amelia starred in a fashion film for family friend and shoe designer Penelope Chilvers, the woman behind the knee-high tasselled boots which the Duchess of Cambridge has sported for the best part of a decade (most recently packing them for the royal trip to Bhutan).
She's studying at Edinburgh University
Enrolled in a four year French and Italian degree, she recently studied abroad in Paris and Rome.
She shares matchy-matchy nicknames with her elder sister
Elder sister Marina (who's a pal of Princess Eugenie) is fondly referred to as 'Big Win,' as in Windsor, while Amelia rather sweetly goes by 'Little Win.' Kate and Pippa who?
Unlike other royals, she's an Instagram regular
We're still coming to terms with that fact that Kate, William and co are unlikely to ever share snaps from weekends at Sandringham or out-takes from George's birthday photoshoots with the general public, and that we'll have to make do with the official @KensingtonRoyal Instagram account instead. Even Meghan Markle has reined in the motivational quotes on social media since going public with Prince Harry last year. For minor royals, however, the rules don't apply, and Amelia's Instagram account @amelwindsor is filled with enviable holiday shots, blurry Glasto pics and well-curated brunches.
Given her penchant for a minimalist white border, we're willing to hazard a guess that Lady Amelia is an aficionado of the Instasize app...
She's eyeing a career in fashion beyond the catwalk
She's already interned at Chanel, and Amelia has made it clear that she's keen to carve out a niche in the fashion world, whether that's on or off the catwalk. ‘I would love to make a contribution to any aspect behind the creative process,’ she revealed to Vogue this year. ‘On my year abroad I want to really further my understanding of every aspect of a fashion house: from the making of the fabrics to the production of a catwalk show.’
She's not to be confused with Lady Amelia Spencer...
... who is the niece of Princess Diana, first cousin of William and Harry, and younger sister of Amelia Windsor's fellow Dolce catwalk model, Lady Kitty Spencer.
Her personal style is laidback but fashion forward
She's sat front row for the likes of Burberry and Sonia Rykiel and sports directional choices (such as a structured shirt-dress from the former for the recent Serpentine Summer Party) for public appearances, but Amelia's main style mantra is 'comfort first.'
'You'll regret wearing agonising shoes when you want to boogie on the dance floor, and always remember to bring a clutch or bag which has a zip to keep everything secure so your belongings don't fly across the room when you're twirling around,' she advised Tatler readers.
