Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet are the pop culture pairing no one saw coming. It might be rare to see reality star royalty and Hollywood actors together – the former tends to prefer sports stars and musicians – but between their court side PDA and awards show sightings over the past two years, Timothée and Kylie have earned their status as an ‘It’ couple.
However, according to internet sleuths, Kylie and Timothée have not been seen together in more than 40 days and were last spotted in St Tropez at the start of July. As the couple walked along the beach – Kylie in a bandage dress and Timothée in a baseball cap wrapped in a babushka bandana, surrounded by security – it’s safe to say their appearance did not go unnoticed. They spent time at the Lou Lou Beach Club with friends, including Kylie’s sister Kendall Jenner, and fans were glad to see the couple reunited after several weeks apart.
However, they have not been seen together since. Kylie, for her part, has been living her best life (or her usual life, let’s be honest) all summer. After dropping into Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos’s multi-million-dollar wedding in Venice in June, she has spent the best part of the summer months yachting around Europe with her two children, Stormi and Aire, her sister Kendall Jenner and her best friends. Perhaps Timothée chose to join them in France to show off his bilingual skills or teach them how to eat escargot.
Their separation was most noticeable at Kylie’s 28th birthday, of course, which took place on 11 August. Kylie celebrated in LA with a painting class and intimate outdoor dinner party thrown by Kendall, surrounded by friends including Hailey Bieber. But where was her boyfriend? Timothée’s absence led to brief speculation that they might have broken up, but the answer is fairly straightforward. He’s currently in Budapest filming Dune: Part Three and has been working most of the summer.

As such, there is no reason to believe Kylie and Timothée have parted ways. Despite fleeting sightings and red-carpet pap shots luring us into the false sense that we all know this couple, this summer has reminded us that we don’t.
It's easy to forget because of their respective careers that Kylie and Timothée have always been a private couple. Kylie has even reiterated the point herself. ‘I think it’s important to keep things to yourself,’ she told Elle in October last year. ‘It’s hard for me to make a decision by myself sometimes, so the opinion of the whole world… it can be tough.’
For those still worried, though, Kylie even ‘confirmed’ that they are still together by liking a post Timothée shared of the trailer for his new film Marty Supreme the day after her birthday. In internet terms, that means they are still dating, it probably also means he did well with his birthday presents.
They are just two hot, rich, famous people enjoying their late 20s. If that means they only manage to meet up once or twice a month at a luxury beach club in St Tropez, I don’t think we should feel too sorry for them.
