Remember Kim Kardashian and Taylor Swift’s feud? You know, the one where Taylor accused Kim’s husband Kanye West of not asking permission to include an obscene line about sleeping with her and making her famous in one of his songs? And then Kim went public with a recording of Taylor, on speakerphone to Kanye, supposedly saying it was fine for him to include that obscene reference to her in his song? Except Taylor had never even been made aware that Kanye wanted to include the line 'I made that bitch famous' in his song, and would have never said yes to it because, well, it's kind of misogynistic? Somewhere along the line Kim called Taylor a snake and loads of other celebs like Selena Gomez and Chloe Moretz and Ruby Rose got involved and the fight went on and on and on...?
Well, that epic argument between Kim and Taylor is now over, and it's all thanks to Kim's bosses...apparently.
According to Radar Online, Kim’s been told to make peace with her former nemesis by head honchos at E!, the network which broadcasts Keeping Up With The Kardashians and all its related spin-offs. Because, you see, E! is owned by NBCUniversal, which, says Radar's source, is linked to Universal Media Group, the record label Taylor signed a multi-record deal with in November.
And it wouldn't be right to have colleagues fighting, would it? A source told Radar: ‘Since Taylor signed her new record deal, she is off limits to Kim. Their war of words is over'
'Universal owns E! So Kim has to be nice. She was told by the bigwigs.’
And it's true, Kim has been nice about Taylor recently. When asked on a chat show who she'd rather be stuck in a lift with, Drake or Taylor, both of whom her and Kanye have publicly feuded with, she picked Taylor, saying: 'I feel like we've all moved on’
However, a brief little research (tapping about on Wikipedia, every great celeb journalist's best pal) says that Universal Music Group has nothing to do with E!, because Universal Music Group is owned by French company Vivendi, and E!’s parent company NBCUniversal is owned by Philadelphia-based company Comcast. Comcast and Vivendi have nothing to do with each other!
It may still be true that E!’s bigwigs told Kim to back off of Taylor because, well, no-one seems to care about the feud anymore. Casting Taylor a villain right now - something Taylor sort of did in the promotion of her album Reputation, merchandising snake rings and bangles and rebranding the standing area of her shows 'the snake pit' so she could take ownership of the emoji'd slur Kim once tweeted about her - seems a little...done. And when the real bad guy of the USA is the guy Kanye tweets positive things about, then, well, you can imagine the actual conversations E!’s bigwigs are having with Kim about her affiliations. And maybe, perhaps, let's give her and Taylor some credit here - they miraculously managed to get over things mutually, without the input of some random suits.
The great catfight of 2016-2017 seems to be well and truly over, and for that we can be grateful. But giving credit to some nameless execs for burying the hatchet between Kim and Taylor is almost as silly as Radar’s source not checking Wikipedia!
