Keep calm everyone, but it seems that Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson have now progressed from holding hands on a rollercoaster in California over the weekend to a fully fledged private dinner date in Pete’s native Staten Island on Tuesday night. Gossip site TMZ delivered the exclusive, which went on to explain that the pair had entered Campania restaurant (apparently one of Pete’s favourites) via the back door to ‘avoid being seen’.
It’s hard to avoid being seen when you’re one of the most famous women in the world, however, and if Kim - who split from husband Kanye West in February - is trying to keep this blossoming romance under wraps she’s not really doing a great job. The rumour mill is now no longer in overdrive, it's gone up in flames.
After Kim and Pete were first spotted together People magazine reported that they were 'just friend', though that has since turned into a report that they are 'having fun' which essentially means their status has gone from red to amber.
As Grazia reported yesterday, friends of the reality star haven’t ‘ruled out’ that this ‘getting to know you’ period with Pete could turn into something more. ‘Kim is enjoying hanging out with Pete and there could be something there- although he's not traditionally her type,’ a source told Grazia, adding, ‘Neither of them is not enjoying the attention this all brings, let’s put it that way.’
There is barely anything about the Kardashian family that isn’t carefully stage managed by a huge team of publicists and managers - with Kris Jenner at the helm - and this situationship with Pete will have been carefully vetted by those around Kim, says a source. ‘She wants to have fun after a difficult year and her split from Kanye,’ says the source. ‘Pete is a great person to provide that distraction.’
The pair shared their first kiss on October 10th, onscreen that is, when Kim was in New York taping her guest appearance on Saturday Night Live, the longstanding NBC comedy show. She appeared alongside Pete as Princess Jasmine to his Aladdin. Since then the pair has reconnected thanks to Kim’s sister Kourtney and her fiancé Travis Barker who knows Pete through Machine Gun Kelly.
Kim, 41, was originally in New York to attend WSJ. Magazine’s 11th annual Innovator Awards at the Museum of Modern Art on Monday night. We’re glad she also made time for something rather more important: Pete Davidson. More as we have it.
