Kim Kardashian has said her ‘heart and prayers’ are with the family of a death row inmate who was killed by lethal injection. The reality TV star - and trainee lawyer - campaigned for Nathaniel Woods' execution to be stopped, along with other activists like Martin Luther King III.
Woods was convicted in 2005 for his role in the fatal shootings of three police officers in Birmingham, Alabama. However, his co-defendant, Kerry Spencer, admitted to pulling the trigger and denied Woods was involved.
‘The court has lifted the temporary stay of execution for Nathaniel Woods,’ she tweeted, before the news was confirmed. ‘The governor will NOT save his life. My heart and prayers are with Nate and his family. This is a tragic example of injustice in the system - in a few minutes Nate may die for a crime he did not commit.
‘Nate will die for a crime another man confessed to and says Nate had nothing to do with. My heart and prayers are with Nate and his family and all the advocates who worked tirelessly to save his life.’ She simply added, ‘RIP Nathaniel Woods’ with a dove emoji when the news broke.
Earlier this week, Kim visited the White House with three women who she helped release from prison early. US President Donald Trump cut short the jail sentences of Crystal Munoz, Judith Negron and Tynice Hall in February. The women were jailed for drug-related and white collar crimes, and all had young children when imprisoned.
