It's Anna Wintour'sworld and we are all just living in it (or not, as invites are rare). Celebrities who know this first hand are the Kardashians. This is the first time the whole Kardashian squad was invited to the most prestigious fashion event of the year, the Met Gala. Khloe Kardashian has famously been snubbed from the awards show for years, but this year she made a dazzling debut.
It was previously reported by Radar Online that Khloe was considered ‘too low-brow’ by organiser and Vogue editor Anna Wintour and has been ‘blacklisted’ because she’s too ‘C list’. (Kourtney Kardashian also made her debut this year alongside fiancé Travis Barker. However, it is understood she was previously invited, but declined in solidarity with her sister). As Metro reports, the pair have never appeared in the magazine, which plays a large role in who does and doesn’t get invited.
A source familiar with the running of the event told Page Six, 'It’s Anna’s party, and just because you’re not invited doesn’t mean she doesn’t like you necessarily — you may not be up to her fashion standards. The tickets are also very expensive. You either need to have $35,000 for a ticket or a designer wants to dress you and pay for you.'
'Kim [ Kardashian] lives for the event and she would never want her Kardashian sisters there because that would take the attention away from her,' one insider told Radar Online. 'Everyone in the family knows that it is Kim's night. She literally talks about it all year long.'
We all know Kim likes to steal the spotlight at the Met: at 2019's Notes On Camp-themed event, Kim persuaded the late Thierry Mugler out of retirement to make a skin-tight dripping dress. This year was no different: for the gilded glamour-themed evening, she slipped into none other than Marilyn Monroe's dress. Yes, the famous dress she wore in 1962 to sing a sultry version of Happy Birthday to President John F Kennedy.
Khloe,Kim, Pete Davidson, Kris Jenner, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner, Kourtney and Travis Barkerarrived together for the red carpet. Their family presence at the event could also signal a united front after recently battling Rob Kardashian's ex - Blac Chyna - in court for a £77 million lawsuit, which they just won.
Let's not forget, not so long ago all of the Kardashian/Jenners were snubbed from the Met Gala. Before Kim married rapper and designer Kanye West, they were all reportedly viewed as tacky reality stars to Anna. However, it seems like times have really changed as now the whole family is accepted by the head of Vouge. Well played Kris Jenner...
