Congratulations are in order for Katy Perry, the first Twitter user to reach 100 million followers.
Perry joined the site in February 2009 and has tweeted just over 8,500 times. The singer became the most followed person on the platform last year and her recent album release, Witness, is what likely caused her to reach the nine figure follower count.
The social media site marked the moment by sharing a video compilation of her best tweets with the message: 'Today, we #WITNESS history.'
Perry beats Justin Beiber (who has 96.7m followers) and Barack Obama (who has almost 91m followers). In fourth place is Taylor Swift (85.1m) and fifth place is (74.1m).
Donald Trump still remains the most followed political leader on the platform with 32.5m followers.
While many celebrated Perry's achievement others speculated the number of fake followers she may have. According to a BBC report, Twitter Audit - which analyses a sample of followers - found that approximately two-thirds of Perry's followers may not be real.
