The Case Of Jordyn Woods And The Public Apology Roll Neck

Unless you’ve been too busy to keep up with the Kardashians in 2019, you’ll already know that Jordyn Woods – who was accused of cheating with Khloe’s boyfriend Tristan Thompson – appeared on Red Table Talk to share her side of the story in March.

The Facebook Watch show, hosted by Jada Pinkett-Smith, gave Kylie’s ex-best friend Woods an opportunity to respond to the allegations made against her, and created a powerful shift in public opinion.

Woods admitted to being at a party at Tristan Thompson’s house, that she stayed until the morning, and that he kissed her without consent as she was leaving.

‘On the way out, he did kiss me. No passion. It was like a kiss on the lips,’ she shared.

‘I don't think he's wrong either because I allowed myself to be in that position and when alcohol is involved, people make dumb moves or people get caught up in the moment. I was leaving already so I walked out immediately after.’

Now, it has been revealed that Woods took a lie detector test during the show, where she was asked if she had sexual intercourse with Tristan. In an episode of Red Table Talk called 'Ask Me Anything' a viewer asks whether Jordyn took a lie detector test, we then see a still of Jordyn taking the test.

At the time of the Red Table Talk, Woods also shared how hard it had been since the rumours of her cheating with Thompson came out, saying her family are being targeted too; ‘My brother can’t go to work. My sister can’t go to school, she’s 12. My mom can’t go to the grocery store.’

‘[The media is] putting their focus on a young black woman who made a mistake,’ Woods said. ‘And not a mistake that’s worth public crucifixion. It’s a mistake that should’ve been dealt with privately.’

While watching Woods’ interview in real time, the shift in public opinion was almost palpable. When the rumours first came out, the general consensus was that Woods was in the wrong, but once people started to hear her side of the story and heard her publicly apologise and acknowledge what she had done wrong, the mood shifted, and people started questioning why Woods was on public trial and not Tristan.

Aside from dissecting the conversation that was happening, people couldn’t help but notice the details of Woods’ appearance. The perfectly slick ponytail, the demure and responsible roll neck dress, and the millennial chunky trainers so as to remind people that’s she’s not only ‘real’ but also, just a young girl caught up in someone’s else’s drama.

In a 2019 update to the demure black suit seen in countless rom coms such as Legally Blonde, and IRL with stars such as Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and Linda Evangelista, Woods went for what we’re calling the public apology roll neck for her trial by social media.

Her full face of impeccable makeup (HELLO flawless skin) did not go unnoticed, and let’s not forget – Woods has eyelashes to sell. When news broke of Khloe’s allegations against Jordyn, people started leaving negative reviews on her collaboration with Eylure, but as the Red Table Talk episode aired, that changed, with some people calling for her to be a Fenty ambassador.

It looks like Woods has successfully managed to change the narrative about her, and while Khloe might be a long way away from forgiving her, she went from demanding a private apology to acknowledging that she should be blaming Tristan for this, not Jordyn.
