Jamie Oliver has claimed he offered to cater for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’sroyal weddingin May 2018, which was held at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, free of charge.

The Naked Chef admitted he wrote to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex – who are expecting their first child together – asking if they needed assistance he would be willing to bring ‘the best of British and American chefs together’ to rustle up a tasty feast for the happy couple and their guests.

However, the 43-year-old restaurateur – who received an MBE in 2003 for his services – was snubbed.

Speaking on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, he said: ‘I did actually write and say if they want the food sorted I would bring the best of British and American chefs together to do the catering.

‘I didn't get a reply. That is a true story. I would have done it for free.’

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry hired Table Talk catering company for their wedding

A disappointed Jamie had high hopes for the occasion as he believed his crew would have marked the ‘best brigade of kitchen ever’.

He added: ‘You know, I like a bit of a moment. I would have got all the American gang over and got all the British dudes... It would have been the best brigade of kitchen ever.

‘They are very slick at protocol and getting those gigs done, so we probably were a bit renegade.’

Instead the former Suits actress and Harry relied on the catering company Table Talk to provide the food for their 600 guests.

The wedding menu is believed to have included mouth-watering canapés such as champagne and pistachio macaroons and orange crème brulee tartlets.

Other dishes ranged from 10-hour slow roasted Windsor pork belly with apple compote and crackling, a free range chicken with vegetables, Scottish langoustines wrapped in smoked salmon, and a pudding that reportedly cost £80 per slice.
