Adele, Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Miley Cyrus, Elton John, Ed Sheeran,Harry Styles{ =nofollow}- the most famous popstars in the world have been driven around LA by James Corden, singing their hit songs. It’s safe to say James has gone a long way from singing American Boy as Smithy in Gavin and Stacey. But, earlier this week, the internet was sent into meltdown when they realised that, well, James doesn’t actually drive the car...

A clip emerged on the internet of Justin Bieber taking part in the sketch with James, but the car was being dragged along by a truck. The user who posted the clip wrote, ‘Saw James Corden and Justin Bieber filming Carpool Karaoke and this is why I have trust issues — he isn't even driving!’

Obviously, people weren’t best pleased - cue replies of ‘my whole life is a lie’ and ‘this is like finding out Santa isn’t real’. One person even went as far to say, ‘The fact that James Corden doesn’t actually drive during Carpool Karaoke must be the biggest lie since we found out that Zac Efron didn’t sing when he played Troy Bolton.’

Now, after international outrage, Corden has responded. Sharing a snap of himself and Samuel L Jackson on stools in front of a steering wheel, recreating that infamous Pulp Fiction scene, he joked: ‘Guys, we don’t even use a real car.’

While it’s all fun and games, and it makes sense from a safety and filming perspective that the car is pulled, we still can’t help but feel kind of cheated. I mean, what is carpool karaoke if James isn’t even driving the car? Oh well, it’s not going to stop us watching them.
