One of the most shocking moments of last year's Love Island was when Jake Cornish and Liberty Poole, the villa's seemingly strongest couple, split up. But now, months after the pair left the show, it's been revealed thatJake{
'We decided we would give it a try. We were talking, but we had to agree that we were not right for each other,' Jake said in an interview with The Sun, before revealing the last time they were in contact. 'When it was announced she was on Dancing On Ice I sent her a message saying, "Well done Lib". She replied, "Thank you" and that is the last time I spoke to her.'
The reality star maintained that his feelings towards Liberty were genuine, and said that he was heartbroken when she decided to split up with him. He said: 'I only had one girlfriend before her, my childhood sweetheart. I’d never been dumped and it hurt. One minute we were planning a holiday together and arranging to meet each other’s families, the next it was over.'
Jake, who left the villa with Liberty following the break-up, also told the paper that the split was less dramatic in real life. 'The break-up was very different on TV to how it was in person,' he added. 'We had a conversation and a kiss and made up, but only part of that conversation was on telly.'
Liberty is currently competing on ITV's Dancing On Ice{
Liberty even got a bit creative with her application, 'I did a Periometer because I still worked at Nando's - so it still showed who I was but in a different way,' the former waitress said. 'Just like have fun with it. Don't be too serious. Reflect who you are while thinking outside the box. Mine was pure [cheese] because I'm the queen of cringe.'
