Call us skeptical - but now that Love Island is in it’s sixth season, we doubt that all the islanders are in it for true love when there’s heaps of money to be made from Instagram. Like, for example, look at last year's Molly-Mae Hague, who netted a £500,000 deal to be a PrettyLittleThing ambassador, and winner Amber Gill, who is currently on a £1million deal with MissPap. Even for those who haven’t made the huge fast fashion Insta deals, there’s still money to be made - erm, selling teeth whitening kits or air fresheners.
And even though they haven’t left the villa yet, according to a scoreboard from Digitaloft, we already know how much some of them could make. And, bearing in mind they’ve only been on our screens a week (and a half), they’re quite nice figures.
Unsurprisingly, leading the pack is Shaughna Phillips who has amassed 361,369 followers (up from 14,982 before entering) and could charge £1,753 per Instagram post. Next up is Sophie Piper, who on 284,288 (up from 29,661 before) could earn £1,379.08.
The only boy in the Top Five earners is Callum Jones who now has 253,409 followers (up from 12,234 before) and could net £1,229.29 per post. Paige Turley - famously the ex of Lewis Capaldi - could charge £1,129.43 (before entering the villa, she already had an impressive 36,143 followers). Last up is Leanne Amaning, who could charge £915.85 with her 188,796 followers (she had 11,116 followers before getting on the show).
We’ll be keeping our eyes on the drama - and their follow counts. We wonder how much money they'll be making by the end of the series...
