You may assume that being an Oscar nominee is as exciting as it gets, but for Hollywood stars there is something almost as good as the chance to get their hands on the little gold man: the famous post-ceremony goodie bag.
Goodie bags as we mere mortals know them typically consist of a plastic bag containing a pen, a lollipop and some stickers, served with a squashed piece of cake in a princess-themed napkin on the side. Naturally, though, the opulent Oscars ceremony calls for gifts of insane grandeur.
The 'Everyone's A Winner' goodie bag is put together by LA marketing company Distinctive Assets, although it is not officially affiliated with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the luxe gift bags are an award season tradition (Distinctive Assets also does the goodie bags for The Grammys).
So what can this year's Oscar nominees expect? First up, that plot of land: according to the Robb Report, nominees will receive a plot of land through Highland Titles, which allows recipients to 'directly contribute to the establishment of nature reserves in the country'. It's not clear how big the plot of land will be but apparently it comes with the benefit of a title as 'Laird, Lord or Lady of Glencoe'.
Other treats include an all-inclusive stay at Turin Castle in Scotland (complete with butler service, of course), a 'Celebrity Arms' liposuction treatment at Florida plastic surgery clinic Art Lipo (reportedly worth up to $15,000), life coaching with holistic healing and wellness expert Kayote Joseph, training sessions with fitness legend Diego Sebastian, a year’s supply of Oxygenetix’s Oxygenating Foundation, and a skincare package from New York 'clean beauty' brand Byroe.
There are less expensive gifts inside too, including a bottle of extra virgin olive oil infused with edible gold flakes and a $72 pot of Manuka honey. Padding out the bag there's a Tangle Teezer hairbrush, CBD infused bath bombs, Coal and Canary candles - and an inflatable orca from PETA.
'While this gift bag does, as always, have an impressive value, that is neither our focus nor goal. A great gift has nothing to do with a price tag,' says Lash Fary, founder of Distinctive Assets 'This year's nominee package is particularly meaningful as we pay tribute to a milestone anniversary and also celebrate the resilience of all involved after the challenges of the past two years. Despite perpetual bad news globally, it's also an important form of self-preservation and self-care to carve out a little room for the fun, festive, and fabulous.'
