He might have made his breakthrough in 2017’s Dunkirk - but now Harry Styles is reportedly being considered for a much more rock and roll part. According tothe Hollywood Reporter, apparently the singer is among the big names being considered for the role of Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s forthcoming biopic. The former One Direction singer attended a screen test for the role last week – along with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ansel Elgort, Austin Butler and Miles Teller.
Already, Tom Hanks is on board to portray Col. Tom Parker, Presley’s manager. Elvis died in 1977 at the age of 42 - following a heart attack - and the biopic is expected to focus on his rise to superstardom, and his close relationship with Parker.
The role would be perfect for Harry, as it's previously been reported that he's keen to spend more time acting. A source toldThe Sun in January, ‘Since stepping away from 1D Harry has really enjoyed life outside that pop bubble. Acting is something he really enjoys and he’s been working behind the camera on a number of different projects. Harry has a base in LA and is ensconced with James Corden and his producer Ben Winston there. And right now he has absolutely no desire to get 1D back together.’
Elgort is about to start shooting Steven Spielberg’s remake of West Side Story, while Whiplash star Teller is set to appear in the Top Gun sequel.
