Ahead of the New Year, Harry and Meghan shared a new photo of baby Archie in a video recapping and reflecting on the past 12 months. The adorable snap (possibly taken by mum Meghan) shows proud dad Harry cuddling the royal couple’s 7 month old son who is wrapped up warm in a cute double bobble hat, coat and what looks like the little sheepskin boots that were presented to the couplein Australia by then-Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove, shortly after it had been announced they were expecting.

The back-drop is a stunning lake in Canada where it was announced in December the couple would spend be spending Christmas with the Duchess’ mum Doria. A local paper revealed the Duke and Duchess were on Vancouver Island and Harry had been spotted hiking in the area. Harry and Meghan previously released an electronic Christmas card in which Archie stole the show.

The highlights reel, soundtracked by Coldplay’s “Clocks”, showed the engagements and projects Harry and Meghan made over the last 12 months. It featured organisations like the animal welfare charity Mayhew, social enterprise Luminary bakery, the sustainable tourism initiative Travalyst launched by the Duke in September as well as photos from their tour of Southern Africa, Meghan’s Smart Works drive and the iconic September Forces for Change Vogue cover. The video, no doubt thanks to the new photo of baby Archie, quickly reached a million views.

There was also a photo of Meghan and Kate at Wimbledon this year, a reciprocal nod back to the Cambridges who in their own end-of-year recap on the Kensington Palace Instagram included images of the Sussexes’ photocall with Archie after he was born, as well as the family photo from the christening. There were constant rumours of a rift between the two couples last year, seemingly confirmed by Harry when he said in a TV interview the brothers were on different paths. So royal watchers have been quick to pick up on the social media videos, with Kate Disick telling the Express, the inclusion of Harry and Meghan in Will and Kate’s 2019 roundup could be seen as “an olive branch”.

So will 2020 see the return of the so-called Fab Four? Watch this space.
