Gwyneth Paltrow has disclosed that she caught coronavirus near the beginning of the pandemic, and has since suffered from long Covid symptoms, such as fatigue. The 46-year-old spoke about the illness on her Goop website, writing: 'I had Covid-19 early on, and it left me with some long-tail fatigue and brain fog.'

'In January, I had some tests done that showed really high levels of inflammation in my body,' she added in the blog post. 'So I turned to one of the smartest experts I know in this space, the functional medicine practitioner Dr. Will Cole. After he saw all my labs, he explained that this was a case where the road to healing was going to be longer than usual.'

As a result, the actress has changed her lifestyle and diet (Dr Cole is the author of upcoming book Intuitive Fasting). Gwyneth is now on a keto diet. And she has also been refraining from sugar and alcohol, and taking supplements.

'Everything I'm doing feels good, like a gift to my body,' she wrote. 'I have energy, I'm working out in the mornings, and I'm doing an infrared sauna as often as I can, all in service of healing. A side benefit is my skin, which makes me happy—and makes me want to double down on skin care even more. Let's make 2021 the year of never needing makeup, people!'

In 2011, the actress played patient zero in the American thriller Contagion.

The NHS does not officially recommend Gwyneth's methods, but they do recommend those worried about symptoms 4 weeks or more after having coronavirus to contact their doctor. Their website says: 'How long it takes to recover from coronavirus is different for everybody. Many people feel better in a few days or weeks and most will make a full recovery within 12 weeks. But for some people, symptoms can last longer. The chances of having long-term symptoms does not seem to be linked to how ill you are when you first get coronavirus. People who had mild symptoms at first can still have long-term problems.'
