Gwyneth Paltrow has opened up about how Harvey Weinstein impacted her love of acting, stating that she is still ‘processing’ her experience with him. Saying that men like him only respond to a loss of power, Paltrow’s comments come after Weinstein was spotted at a nightclub in New York last weekend.

Speaking at The New York Times’ DealBook Conference, Paltrow cited a recent Wesley Morris column in the publication, which questioned how her relationship with acting changed over time – leading her away from Hollywood and into the wellness industry.

‘It's something that I've been processing over the last year or so,’ she said. ‘I don’t even think I was aware that it possibly could have tarnished the way I viewed my first career.’

For Paltrow, it seems she is conflicted about how much Weinstein helped her career - the pair filmed a string of films together – and how he both harassed her and used her name to coerce others.

She told the New York Times that Weinstein sexually harassed her when she was 22 but was warned off repeating it by then-boyfriend Brad Pitt. However, Weinstein would reportedly still tell other women ‘how do you think Gwyneth has what she has?’ when attempting to coerce them. ‘That has by far been the hardest part of this,’ Paltrow told a group of survivors according to Weinstein exposé She Said, ‘to feel like a tool in coercion of rape'.

Discussing this at the conference, Paltrow explained that she still doesn’t really know how to process her experience with him.

‘The postscript to that chapter of my life is where it gets extremely complicated for me,’ she said. ‘Information came to light about who he was and how he was behaving that I didn't know during my already very difficult time with him. So I'm not sure. I'm not sure how I feel.’

However, she does know how best to prevent him from harming more women: taking away his power.

‘There's a spectrum — but it does seem to me, for the more egregious offenders, that really loss of power is what keeps them from further offending,’ Paltrow said. ‘So if they don't have the power, then they lose that dynamic and then the game's over.’

Weinstein was recently spotted at Manhattan nightclub Socialista, where according to the New York Post he was greeted by a number of fans fawning over him. He is facing trail in January for rape and sexual assault charges; however he maintains his innocence and denies ever having 'nonconsensual sex'.
