Brad Falchuk has explained why he didn’t immediately move in with his wife Gwyneth Paltrow.

The director has said that blending their families was a delicate process and their children needed time to adjust to the divorce life first.

‘I’m moving in September,’ he told the WSJ. ‘We’ve just done it slowly. Divorce is terrible, even when it’s the right thing to do. And it’s really hard on kids. Come September, we’re all gonna Brady Bunch it up, and it’ll be great.’

Falchuk has two kids from his previous relationship, while Paltrow shares Apple, 15, and Moses, 13, with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.

Gwynethlast week announced that she was moving in with her husband, after revealing in June that she didn't live with the director full time.

In a new interview, the lifestyle guru told InStyle magazine{ =nofollow}, 'Married life has been really good. We took a year to let everybody [in the family] take it in and let the dust settle. And now we’re moving in together this month. I adore my husband. He’s brilliant and deeply kind.'

In June, the Goop founder said that the couple - who tied the knot with Brad in September last year - only live together four nights a week. On the days they're not together, Brad goes back to his own house to live with his two children from his previous marriage.

‘Oh, all my married friends say that the way we live sounds ideal and we shouldn’t change a thing,’ Paltrow told The Sunday Times.

The actress said she followed the advice of her intimacy teacher Michaela Boehm to create 'polarity' in her relationship to keep it fresh.
