Pregnancy cravings are weird - just ask Grimes. The singer - who is pregnant with boyfriend Elon Musk - has revealed that she has broken her strict vegan diet due to pregnancy cravings, as she all wanted was a glass of cow’s milk.Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar, Grimes – whose real name is Claire Boucher – said: ‘Lately the one pregnancy craving I have is just a glass of milk, which is so weird because I haven’t had a glass of milk in probably 20 years. Lately I’ve just been having a glass of milk… just cow’s milk. It’s probably become clear I’m not vegan during this time. This trying time,’ she joked. (Does anyone remember when Phoebe from Friends became pregnant, and couldn't stop eating meat, even though she was a vegetarian?)
However, while Grimes might normally be vegan, that doesn’t mean she enjoys eating healthily. ‘I actually dislike vegetables pointedly, but they’re important to eat. It’s just vile, like broccoli? Like what the f**k? It’s actually disgusting, I don’t know how anyone eats it.’
Last month, the singer discussed how she plans to parent her baby, telling her fans that she will be keeping her child’s identity private - as they ‘can’t consent to being famous or being in public’.
‘I don’t want to say the gender of the baby… because I feel like their privacy should be protected,’ the singer reportedly said in a YouTube stream. ‘I don’t think they can consent to being famous or being in public.’
Grimes, who released her latest album Miss Anthropocene last month, also said that she doesn’t want to ‘gender them’ in case it is not how the child identifies. The musician added, ‘And I don’t want to gender them in case that’s not how they feel in their life. I don’t know, I just feel like it doesn’t need to be known.’ After another fan asked whether she was having a boy or girl on Twitter, Grimes responded, ‘They may decide their fate and identity.’
