It seems like everyone announces their pregnancy over social media nowadays - andGrimes is no exception. Although, she did take a slightly different approach. The 31-year-old musician, who has been dating billionaire Tesla founder Elon Musk since 2018, revealed her baby bump in a photo from her shoot with Eli Russell Linnetz, who is known to have previously worked with the Kardashians. Casual. Oh, and she edited in a fetus.
In case you had any doubt she was pregnant, she replied to a fan who complimented the photo, saying that she thought about censoring out her nipples - but didn’t because the photo would be less ‘feral’. ‘I thought about censoring them for a hot minute haha (this may get taken down anyway) but the photo is so much less feral without the nipples,’ she said. ‘Plus being knocked up is a very feral & war-like state of being.’
The singer added that she was encouraged not to post the photos by some of her friends - but that only spurred her on to post the portraits. ‘Might as well be what it is,’ she added. ‘Plus most of my friends told me not to post them so then I was afflicted w reverse psychology. Interrogated my shame on it and decided it was sum weird internalized self hatred to feel uncomfortable abt my body [sic].’
It will be the musician's first child. While she hasn’t confirmed that the baby is Musk's, if it is, he is already a father to five children whom he shares with his ex-wife Justine Wilson. However, their first child died of sudden infant death syndrome. The Tesla founder is reported to be worth $26.8 billion.
